this is a sketch I colored using Autodesk Sketchbook. It's a pretty useful program and a serious rival to Paint Tool Sai (in my humble estimation) when it comes to sub-$100 digital painting programs. Paint Tool Sai has superior blending and brushes, while Autodesk Sketchbook has better drafting tools for crisp, clean lines and backgrounds. THe perspective tools and french curve tools are really useful for lineart. Not to mention the guided 'steady stroke' function that allows your jiggly wacom pen to produce beautiful, smmooth arcs and curves.
Of course, I didn't do any of that fancy stuff in this pic, content instead to hastily color under a pencil sketch. But I think my new method of choice for finished pieces will be to do lineart in Autodesk and then color in Paint Tool Sai.
I've been thinking about Power Ranger costume ideas ever since they announced the new movie (pleeeease don't suck). I'm way curious how they're going to update the ranger armor. I'm guessing something more sophisticated than spandex, but who knows. There's really a lot of opportunity to reinvigorate this franchise and get fans of the original back on board. The trenchcoat you see in my designis a nod to my favorite comics in the 90s when all the badasses added trenchcoats over their body armor. I don't imagine it serves any practical function, but probably helps to make the ranger stand out less when coordinating with civilian law enforcement or military.
Anywho, comments and feedback appreciated. Also, I'd like to get some practice by doing requests to kind of flex my range, so requests welcome as well.
Thanks for checking out my work!
